Whether melodic, evocative or haunting, Benjamin Lehmann’s imprint affronts hooks, motifs and spatial details worthy of the more off-kilter filmic scores. Bearing a disturbingly sweet and impressive back-catalogue Mr Lehmann displays a sound knowledge of what is required to source the lesser found avant-garde earworms though to self-engineering his own enveloping modern soundscapes.  

Having incubated a range of artists at the cutting edge of electronic music Benjamin (Semtek) established Don’t Be Afraid in 2010, the label has received critical acclaim for showcasing the talents of Mr. Beatnick, MGUN, rRoxymore and Karen Gwyer. The personable approach to A&R adopted by Semtek comes from his background as a classically trained jazz musician and producer who has graced the finer Soho Jazz Clubs albeit in a former life. The back-catalogue is a musicians menagerie, a compendium of malaised styles, pertinently balancing the soul-laden house of Mr Beatnick with MGUN’s Detroit infused techno experimentation. There are no limits with DBA, we are assured, as new additions to the arsenal in Karen Gwyer, Kelpe, Typesun and Ben Cohen continue the dream of pushing a musical, experimental, beautiful electronic sound. DBA has recently provided the sound design for the Loewe SS17 campaign at Paris Fashion Week.
